Become a Certified Calsanova Coach

Sport-specific nutrition + accountability coaching for athletes — built on a defined scope of practice and a real curriculum.

Who this is for

Strength & conditioning coaches looking to add nutrition coaching

Fitness professionals (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA) who already work with athletes

Health and wellness coaches (NBC-HWC, Precision Nutrition L1/L2) ready to specialize in performance

Sport-specific specialists: combat sports, endurance, team sports, tactical athletes

What you CAN do

  • Educate athletes on general nutrition principles — macros, hydration, timing
  • Structure meals around training and competition using Calsanova tools
  • Coach behavior change and accountability around eating patterns
  • Discuss general supplement use (creatine, whey, vitamin D, etc.)
  • Use platform tools (CutLab, Comp Prep, meal plans, Kiwi AI) within scope
  • Recognize when a member needs a Registered Dietitian and refer them via the platform

What you CANNOT do

  • Diagnose or treat medical conditions
  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)
  • Prescribe therapeutic diets (low-FODMAP, renal, ketogenic-for-epilepsy)
  • Interpret labs or biomarkers
  • Generate SOAP notes or insurance billing (superbills)
  • Hold yourself out as a Registered Dietitian or licensed nutritionist you don't hold

How it works

  1. Apply as a Founding Coach

Email us with your background, sport focus, and any existing credentials. We're hand-picking the first cohort.

  2. Complete the curriculum

Six modules: platform fluency, sport-specific fueling, scope of practice (90% pass threshold), behavior change, when to refer, and platform tools deep-dive.

  3. Sign IC + Subordinate BAA

Independent Contractor Agreement with Calsanova LLC (Florida) + Subordinate Business Associate Agreement. Florida governing law. You hold your own E&O insurance ($1M/$1M minimum).

  4. Configure marketplace + Stripe Connect

Pick your tier offerings (Base $79/$129/$199 or Specialist $129/$199/$299 if you hold a verified external credential). Stripe Connect for direct payouts.

  5. Take your first matched member

Members find you in the marketplace by sport focus, credentials, and rate. The platform handles payments, messaging, and engagement infrastructure. You coach within your scope.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a Registered Dietitian?

No. The Certified Calsanova Coach tier is intentionally non-RD. Members who need clinical nutrition therapy (medical conditions, lab interpretation, insurance billing) are matched with our Registered Dietitian tier instead.

Do I need a CSCS or NASM cert?

No, those credentials unlock Specialist tier pricing but aren't required for Base tier. You can launch as a Base Coach with just the Calsanova curriculum + IC sign, then add external credentials over time.

What's the curriculum like?

Six modules, self-paced. Module 3 (Scope of Practice) is load-bearing with a 90% pass threshold — non-negotiable. Other modules are platform-fluency + sport-specific fueling + behavior change + when-to-refer + platform tools.

Which states can I operate in?

Calsanova operates nationally — all 50 states from day one. State nutrition laws regulate the practice of dietetics (MNT, clinical conditions, protected titles like 'dietitian' and 'nutritionist'), not general performance coaching. As a Certified Calsanova Coach, you use only the 'Certified Calsanova Coach' title — never 'dietitian' or 'nutritionist' — and you operate within a defined performance-accountability scope. The platform enforces this with code-level scope gates and a quarterly transcript review. The same protective architecture works identically across every state.

What insurance do I need?

$1M per occurrence / $1M aggregate professional liability (E&O) insurance. Typical cost $300-600/year via Hiscox, Heart Insurance for Trainers, or Insurance Canopy. Certificate required before serving your first matched member.

What happens if a member has a medical condition?

Refer them to the Registered Dietitian tier on Calsanova. The curriculum's Module 5 (When to Refer) walks through this in detail. The platform makes the referral one click — and the member retains their data across the handoff.

Annual recertification?

Yes. Each year on your anniversary, you complete a curriculum refresh + the scope quiz (90% pass threshold). External credential expirations are also tracked annually.
